Do Something Tennessee Day is a statewide call to action encouraging us all—especially young people—to take one step toward strengthening their communities through service.

Instead of one central event, communities, schools, nonprofits, and families are encouraged to organize or participate in volunteer opportunities in their own neighborhoods.

No experience needed. Just a willingness to show up.

Tennessee is the Volunteer State—
but only about 1 in 3 people volunteer each year.

That means there are thousands of opportunities to strengthen our communities still waiting to be filled.

DSTN exists to change that—encouraging us all to start with just one simple action.

HOW IT WORKS

Find an Opportunity

Look for local organizations to serve with or create your own projects within your communities.

SHOW UP AND SERVE

Come with a positive attitude, ready to work together, meet new people, and have fun!

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Your efforts help us all build a stronger, more connected Tennessee for generations to come.

Across Tennessee, communities are coming together to serve in ways that meet local needs. Whether in one of DSTN’s key cities or your own backyard, there’s a place for you to step in, give back, and lead. Sign up for our email list to stay up to date on volunteer opportunities, partnerships, and ways to get involved.

MEET MEGHAN, Founder

A passion for service. A vision for something bigger.

Meghan Gadsden is a graduate Public Relations student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, childhood volunteerism advocate and the current Miss Knoxville through the Miss America Opportunity.

Through her initiative, It Takes a Child to Raise a Village, Meghan works to equip young people with the tools and opportunities to serve their communities. Her mission is simple: help youth discover that they don’t have to wait to make a difference.

Do Something Day was created as a way to turn that belief into action—encouraging communities across Tennessee to come together and take one step toward service.
